About the Worley Bursary Programme
The Worley Bursary supports academically deserving and financially disadvantaged South African students pursuing Engineering and Science degrees. The bursary aims to empower students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds by funding their tertiary education and offering practical workplace exposure through vacation work opportunities.
Fields of Study Covered
Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in the following fields:
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
What the Bursary Covers
The Worley Bursary provides financial support for the following expenses:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Book allowance
- Computer or laptop allowance
- Accommodation (residence or private)
- Data allowance
Additionally, successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in vacation work during university holidays, gaining valuable industry experience.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have completed Matric.
- Must be studying towards a BSc or BEng degree in one of the fields listed above.
- Must be registered at a recognised and accredited South African tertiary institution.
- Must have completed the first year of study.
- Must be entering 2nd year of study (or 2nd/3rd year for Mining Engineering students).
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65%.
- Must have no failed subjects.
- Must be a previously disadvantaged and financially disadvantaged individual.
