COPS have launched an urgent investigation after a woman was attacked in a “serious sexual assault” in the woods.
The attack happened yesterday in Grace Dieu Woods, also known as Thringstone Woods, near Coalville, Leicester.
Police were called at around 11.53am after reports the victim was attacked “by a person not known to her”.
Cops said the victim was taken to hospital “as a precaution”.
She has since been discharged and is being supported by specialist officers.
Leicestershire Police confirmed forensic searches were ongoing and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Increased patrols are in place in the area of Grace Dieu Woods as further searches continue.
Det Insp Jenny Tattersall said: “I’d like to reassure the community that we are doing everything we can to identify and arrest the person responsible for this attack.
“I’d like to urgently speak to anyone who was in the woods yesterday morning – regardless of whether you saw anything out of the ordinary or not. Please contact us.”
