Newly released data has revealed the ratio of women to men at Manchester’s universities, and the results have made sure that the city is living up to Beyoncé’s 2011 song.
The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and Salford University have all been revealed to have a higher proportion of female students than male.
The results come from Times Higher Education’s recent world university rankings, which included data about the backgrounds of students at each university.
The University of Manchester has 43,470 students in full time education. For every 43 male students enrolled on the university’s courses, there are 57 female students.
The University of Salford also has a higher number of female students than male students. With 22,475 students in full time education, Salford’s female: male ratio is 56: 44.
Meanwhile, Manchester Metropolitan has the highest number of female students, with a female to male ratio of 58:42 from 33,935 students.
This means that across all three universities, the female to male student ratio in Manchester is 57:43.
We’re not sure about the world, but women are clearly running Oxford Road.
