Which Springbok will next reach 100 caps?

The Springboks – and indeed the global rugby community – were understandably united in celebrating Siya Kolisi reaching 100 caps in an epic game against France this past weekend.

So, who will be next to join the century club?

In this golden era of Springbok rugby, it should not be overlooked that veteran centre Damian de Allende now sits on 95 caps, and he will almost certainly join the ‘100 club’ during the highly-anticipated New Zealand tour to South Africa next year.

Right behind him, Pieter-Steph du Toit is now on 94 Test caps, and the dynamic loose forward is also set to reach his century of Springbok appearances in 2025.

Malcolm Marx and Jesse Kriel are on 86 caps, while Handre Pollard is on 84. All three should get to 100.

Meanwhile, Franco Mostert (82) and Bongi Mbonambi (81) are two other current Springboks still hoping to add to their tally, but it seems less certain that they will reach the century mark.

Tributes to Kolisi

SA Rugby president Mark Alexander congratulated Kolisi on recently reaching his 100-cap milestone, joining eight other Springbok centurions.

“Siya Kolisi’s century of Tests is a testament to resilience, leadership and inspiration. From humble beginnings in Zwide to lifting the Webb Ellis Cup twice as our captain, it is the story of a boy who dared to dream, of a leader who rose to unite a nation and of a champion who carried the hopes of millions on his shoulders – with humility, courage and grace.

“Siya, your 100th cap is a symbol of endurance and inspiration. You have etched your name into the fabric of our rugby history and into the hearts of our people.

“On behalf of the South African Rugby Union and every supporter across our land and beyond, I salute you. May this milestone remind us of how far we have come and how much further we can go when we walk together.”
