The Proteas Women will be in action on Tuesday when they face Pakistan in their penultimate World Cup pool game, but they can already rest assured in the knowledge that they have qualified for the semi-finals.
After a heavy opening loss to England, the Proteas Women have been unbeaten, and found their place in the final four already guaranteed after New Zealand’s match against Pakistan was washed out on Saturday.
England and Australia have also qualified for the semi-finals, and here is what lies in store as the first-placed team in the group standings will play the fourth-placed team, while the second will face the third.
As is stands, Australia and England are in first and second place respectively, but are equal on nine points, while South Africa are in third spot just one point behind. Four points behind them, India are hoping to hold onto fourth place, aware that New Zealand and Sri Lanka also have four points from the competition so far.
If the table would remain as it is, the Proteas Women would play England in the World Cup knockouts, but there are a few pool games still to take place to determine who will feature in the first and second semi-final.
The first knockout clash will take place on Wednesday, 29 October at 11:30, while the second semi-final will take place a day later at the same time. So keep your eyes peeled as the semi-final match-ups are soon to be confirmed.
As it is, the first semi-final is expected to see the first-placed team take on the fourth-place qualifier, while the second-placed side will taken on the third-placed team in the second semi-final.
