Wetherspoons reveals opening dates of 5 new pubs starting next week – is your area getting one?

WETHERSPOONS has revealed the opening dates for its newest five pubs.

It follows the opening of four new Spoon’s locations since the summer.

The next will open in just a week, all set to have its iconic own “design, character, and personality”.

Sigered, King of Essex in Basildon is opening its doors as a JD Wetherspoons on Tuesday, October 21.

The new pub is set to feature a beer garden and pay homage to Basildon’s history as part of the Kingdom of the East Saxons.

Next to open will be The New Moor Farm in Tyne and Wear on Wednesday, October 22.

It is located where the field of Moor Farm originated, which was followed by Moor House and Cramlington Moor Farm that was abandoned in the late 1980s.

The farmhouse and its outbuildings were redeveloped in the 2000s, which is now able to make way for a new Wetherspoons.

Then in December, a new pub will be opening in Beaconsfield.

The Chiltern will open on Tuesday, December 2 as a Spoon’s after first being a 500-seat Picture House.

The first film shown at the cinema was silent war film Mare Nostrum, which then had its capacity reduced in the 1950s to allow for a wide screen.

Local council then purchased the site in 1961 to make it “extensively modernised” and renamed The Chiltern.

It closed it’s doors for the final time as a cinema in September 1989, and was sold five years later.

After this, The Hollybush Seam in Bristol will open on Wednesday, December 3 as a new pub and beer garden.

The Hollybush Seam is a Brandy Bottom Colliery site that includes two engine houses, a tall chimney and two halves of a winding wheel.

As a colliery, it was closed in 1936, but remains a scheduled monument.

Finally, just before Christmas, The Angel Inn will open in Wetherby on December 23.

The Angel Inn was an important coaching inn between 1760 and 1840 that stabled over 100 horses.

On top of that, it had a blacksmith’s and shoeing workshop.

There is still a chance of more openings of Wetherspoon’s before the end of the year.

A date for the next Papas Group franchise in Stockton-on-Tees is also expected to be announced shortly.

FREE refills – Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.

Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.

So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.

Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.

For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.

Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.

Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.

Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.

Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.

It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.

As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.
