WEATHER: Thundershowers and sunshine expected in these provinces

Varying weather conditions are expected across the Northern Cape, Mpumalanga and Free State. You may want to opt for a jacket if you’re venturing out on Tuesday, 18 November.

NORTHERN CAPE

It will be fine, calm conditions, but the central and eastern parts can expect partly cloudy, windy, and warm to hot weather. There’s also a chance of isolated showers and thundershowers, so don’t be surprised if the weather flips later in the day. Along the coast, winds will be moderate to fresh from the south-east to south.

KIMBERLY

In Kimberly, the capital city of the Northern Cape, you can expect showers and thundershowers with a minimum of 15°C with a maximum of 31°C.

UPINGTON

Upington gets the sunnier end of the deal with clear skies. A warm start at 20°C, climbing to a hot 33°C, so definitely pack sunscreen if you’re outdoors.

MPUMALANGA

Over in Mpumalanga, it will be a foggy morning in places along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers. Rain is expected over the Highveld and escarpment areas.

MBOMBELA

Mbombela can expect light rain and quite a bit of humidity, around 80%. Temperatures stay on the cooler side with a low of 13°C and a high of 24°C. A bit of a damp day overall.

FREE STATE

It’s a mixed bag in the Free State. Partly cloudy to start, becoming windy and cool to warm later on. Isolated showers and thundershowers are on the cards, and these become more scattered as you get closer to the Lesotho border.

BLOEMFONTEIN

Free State’s capital, Bloem, stays mostly clear, with a comfortable low of 13°C and a high of 26°C. Nice and calm compared to the rest of the region, and no major rainfall is expected.
