African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says the party will never associate with “dubious characters.”
He was speaking at a media briefing to outline the outcomes of the ANC’s National Working Committee meeting and provide an update on key political developments.
Mbalula stressed that ANC members would not associate with businessman Brown Mogotsi, who has been linked to alleged crime boss Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
MOGOTSI IS “RUNNING AMOK” WITH ANC
He said Mogotsi is implicated in siphoning money in the ANC’s name and that the party rejects any association with him.
“We will never associate ourselves with characters like Brown Mogotsi if he’s a member of the ANC and his activities. You must account about that, and the ANC will stand up to such characters who pride themselves openly and publicly about the pride of being involved in things that do not raise the name of ANC is good state,” said Mbalula.

The Secretary-General added that Mogotsi is “running amok,” with no respect for the ANC or pride in being a member, treating the organisation “as a cheap thing.”
MCHUNU’S TIES TO MOGOTSI
Mbalula’s comments come despite ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu being accused of having ties to Mogotsi. The alleged link is currently before the Madlanga Commission.
WhatsApp messages between Mogotsi and Matlala have formed part of Crime Intelligence Head Dumisani Khumalo’s testimony, in which he also alleged a connection between Mogotsi, Matlala, and Mchunu. Mbalula confirmed that Mchunu, who is accused of colluding with criminals, will appear before the ANC’s Integrity Commission.
“Senzo and whoever else is implicated will appear before the Integrity Commission. The Commission does not announce its work, but I can assure you he will appear,” he said.
