South African DJ and TV personality Lamiez Holworthy-Morule has posted a video on social media reflecting on her recent Nhlawulo ceremony, which took place in Pretoria.

This comes after legendary musician Chicco Twala confirmed earlier this year that Lamiez, who is married to rapper Khuli Chana, is his biological daughter.

“Nhlawulo” refers to a cultural payment traditionally made in cases involving relationships or pregnancies outside of formal lobola or marriage arrangements.

The term is commonly used in several South African languages, including Xitsonga, Sepedi, and Sesotho.

Although Lamiez hasn’t shared extensive details about the ceremony, the video shows her meeting family members before changing into traditional Xitsonga attire, connecting to her paternal lineage.

Reflecting on the moment a few days ago, Lamiez expressed her gratitude for how her journey has unfolded.

“In the end, it all works out, kiddo. You were birthed by a strong woman, raised by one, and therefore had no choice but to become one. God did a thing and made sure thereof,” she wrote.

Lamiez has previously spoken openly about her close relationship with her late stepfather, Enver Holworthy.

She credited him for her success, revealing that he would drive her to gigs in a security van.

In an interview on DJ Fresh’s WAW: What A Week podcast, Lamiez said her stepfather went out of his way to make sure she and her siblings were well cared for.

“I grew up in a very happy home. I come from love. I was raised by my mom and my stepfather, who went out of their way to make sure that my siblings and I were good,” she said.

Enver Holworthy sadly passed away in April 2019, with Lamiez announcing his death on social media.

“My dad came home from work last night, insisted that my mom get her hair done and that he’d make us dinner. He cooked for us and even though I wasn’t hungry, I ate before I went back to my house. He kissed me goodbye only to leave me forever a few hours later…” she wrote.
