Kimora Lee Simmons is nack on television, and the powerhouse fashion businesswoman, and former supermodel who rose to fame when, as a teenager, she modelled for Chanel after being discovered by designer Karl Lagerfeld. She later married music mogul Russell Simmons, with whom she created the massively successful fashion brand Baby Phat in 1999.
In 2004, the couple sold Baby Phat to Kellwood Company for $140 million (R2,385,521,390), with Simmons buying it back in 2019.
With 15 years between her two shows, the mogul is showcasing a much larger family than in the first show, Life in the Fab Lane, with two additional sons.
Simmons sat down with talkshow host, Tamryn Hall, to tell us what to expect from Back in the Fab Lane.
Why did Simmons come back now?
“Life is about timing. I think with the whole Y2K craze we’ve been going through… the kids are having this resurgence to back to our time,” Simmons said.
“…You’re not coming back for the money. Why come back? Did you miss the fans?” asked Hall.
“I always had the fans with me, but I think that they feel like they don’t get enough of life in the fab lane. We’re living this, but we don’t always have the cameras. I think they (the fans) definitely want the cameras,” responded Simmons.
Simmons’s new reality show
Of the new show, Simmons expressed that because there’s a fresh twist with television content in modern times, and that this show will resonate with people.
“Every time I go outside, someone is saying ‘Girl, me too!’… I think it’s just a kinship and a family, and people identify with a lot of the same things I go through,” explained Simmons.
