Warras’s tweets about Cat Matlala resurface: ‘Tryna get me killed’

Recent tweets by the late DJ Warras – real name Warrick Stock- about Vusi “Cat” Matlala have resurfaced following his shock death on Tuesday, 16 December.

The radio and TV personality was gunned down in the Johannesburg CBD by an unknown gunman. His death is rumoured to be an orchestrated hit.

On Tuesday, 16 December, a public holiday marking the Day of Reconciliation, DJ Warras was shot and killed by an unknown gunman in the Joburg CBD.

According to reports, the 40-year-old was on-site inspecting a building he co-owned – Zambesi House – that had reportedly been overrun by illegal immigrants.

He had been accompanied by a private security business to facilitate evictions.

Known on X as the “Shady Lurker”, Warras’s death – believed to be a hit – sent shockwaves across the country.

While the motive remains unclear, many X users speculated on who could be behind his murder.

Recent tweets by Warras about arrested businessman, Vusi “Cat” Matlala, resurfaced, adding to the commentary.

Matlala is currently in custody at the Kgosi Mampuru prison in Pretoria over charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder relating to a 2023 incident of ex-girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane. The “tenderpreneur” – who confessed to allegedly bribing former Minister of Police Bheki Cele – has also been linked to money laundering, fraud, and defeating the ends of justice.

Matlala is accused of being notorius Joburg hitman, who goes by the name “John Wick”, a claim he has denied.

Here is what X users had to say…

WHAT DID HE TWEET?

In recent weeks, DJ Warras shared his opinions about Vusi “Cat” Matlala, particularly over the latter’s appearance before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee.

Here are a few of his tweets:

“Cat Matlala is like the SA Jeffrey Epstein. Man is just involved everywhere, with ‘Top Secret’ security clearance, network, and access – that’s STILL unexplained”

“Cat seems eerily calm.  Either because he knows this whole show will not result in any permanent consequences. Or because he’s a f***ing psychopath”.

When one media house published an article about his comments about Matlala, Warras responded: “You niggas are tryna get me killed, neh?”

He later laughed off comments stating “RIP”, and calling for him to “beef up security”.

The DJ – who carried a licensed firearm – also responded to a post that questioned if he was “scared of Cat John Wick”.

He responded: “I don’t want smoke with Cat, fam”.
