The Times Higher Education World University rankings have been released, and Bristol secured 80th place out of a seismic 2191 Universities.
UWE has maintained its position from last year, ranking 601-800, showcasing particularly good results in Psychology, placing within the top 201-250 worldwide.
Established in 2004, THE rankings “assess university performance on the global stage and provide a resource for readers to understand the different missions and successes of higher education institutions.” The rankings provide students with detailed insight into which University performs best in their chosen course. The ranking spots are based on teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.
The performance of the University of Bristol has remained consistent. Despite this minor regression from 78th place in 2025, Bristol’s success speaks for itself, as it maintains a decade-long streak in the top 100 university’s worldwide.
Furthermore, the ranking highlights how Bristol’s performance is on a general upward trajectory, jumping significantly in the last five years, advancing 11 places from its position at 91 in 2021.
Beyond the overall university ranking, Bristol has performed exceptionally well in certain subjects. The Medical and Health school was ranked 54th place, Education Studies received 43rd place, Physical Sciences 63rd and psychology 65th. The Law School also excelled, achieving 60th place.
The release of these rankings follows others that have hailed Bristol’s success as a leading university. Last month, Bristol was ranked tenth best university in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, and in June the QS rankings ranked Bristol 51st in the world.
Both the University of Bristol and UWE have performed well, guarding their spots in prestigious world rankings.
