An unidentified man has been shot and killed outside the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg.
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) confirmed to Kaya 959 that officers responded to a shooting incident in the area on Tuesday, 16 December 2025. JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says the shooting took place in the morning.
“We can confirm a shooting incident that happened earlier this morning outside the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg CBD. Our officers responded to the incident when they were stopped by members of the public about the shooting incident.
Unfortunately, at the current moment, we don’t have further details of the incident since it is a crime scene and criminal matters are then investigated by the SAPS, who will then issue a statement and comment further on the incident,” said Fihla.
An eyewitness who spoke to Kaya News confirmed that the deceased is reportedly a coloured male. Gauteng police have not yet issued an official statement.
