UK’s best curry houses revealed in awards as 75 winners crowned – is your local on the list?

THE UK’S best curry houses have been revealed in a prestigious awards ceremony – and your local may be on the list.

The Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards 2025 (ARTA) were announced yesterday evening at an event held at the Hilton, Park Lane London.

The star-studded event hosted a number of popular celebs including BBC sports presenter Seema Jaiswal.

The awards pick the top Indian and pan-Asian restaurants in every region around the country, alongside other accolades including Newcomer of the Year, Streetfood Restaurant of the Year and Asian Fusion Restaurant of the Year.

Over 1,300 venues were nominated, but just 75 were crowned winners in their respective categories.

That includes Nu Delhi Restaurant Lounge, Belfast, which was titled the Champion of Champions.

The high end haunt in Northern Ireland offers fusion dishes and punters have described it as the “best Indian food” they have tried.

Also taking the crown was My Delhi Newcastle, which was voted the best street food restaurant of the year.

This Indian restaurant brings authentic Delhi street food to the Geordie city.

In the past, diners have said they were “blown away” by the grub served to them.

Elsewhere, Maneki Ramen in Worcester was named the Japanese restaurant of the year.

Punters have praised the authentic Ramen and “fast and friendly service”.

Mohammed Munim, founder of ARTA, said: “Despite the ongoing challenges faced by the sector – from rising costs and labour shortages to recent changes in immigration rules affecting skilled chef recruitment – we continue to celebrate the resilience, creativity, and excellence of the Pan Asian restaurant and takeaway community.

Back in September, the AA Hospitality Awards crowned their winners for the best dining spots across the UK.

Four dining spots across England, Scotland and Wales were crowned the best places to eat in the UK.

That includes Skof, a Michelin star restaurant in Manchester, which is owned by Tom Barnes.

Joséphine in London was also named the best restaurant in the capital.

While in Scotland, The Little Chartroom was crowned the best in the region.

In Wales, Gorse in Cardiff came out on top. This is a modern Welsh restaurant by Tom Waters in the suburb of Pontcanna.

How to save money on your takeaway

TAKEAWAYS taste great but they can hit you hard on your wallet. Here are some tips on how to save on your delivery:

Cashback websites– TopCashback and Quidco will pay you to order your takeaway through them. They’re paid by retailers for every click that comes to their website from the cashback site, which eventually trickles down to you. So you’ll get cashback on orders placed through them.

Discount codes – Check sites like VoucherCodes for any discount codes you can use to get money off your order.

Buy it from the shops – Okay, it might not taste exactly the same but you’ll save the most money by picking up your favourite dish from your local supermarket.

Student discounts – If you’re in full-time education or a member of the National Students Union then you may be able to get a discount of up to 15 per cent off the bill. It’s always worth asking before you place your order.
