Two South African cities have landed in the top ten of the 30 Most Attractive African Cities 2025 list.
Now in its second year, this year’s list – conducted by Jeune Afrique, which surveyed 7 877 respondents across 41 cities on the continent – was released most recently.
South Africans will be pleased to know that two major cities landed fourth and seventh places on the list, respectively.
CAPE TOWN: AFRICA’S FOURTH MOST ATTRACTIVE CITY

Taking fourth place on the list is none other than Cape Town.
Indeed, the Mother City boasts a wealth of natural scenery, including its statuesque mountains, world-class vineyards and shimmering blue seas. It’s also home to numerous historic and cultural landmarks, making it a perfect staycation spot or overseas holiday destination.
Although it’s far from its first-place ranking in last year’s list, Cape Town’s presence in the top five illustrates its enduring appeal.
JOHANNESBURG SITS IN SEVENTH PLACE

Johannesburg occupies a respectable seventh-place ranking on the list.
The City of Gold is a cultural hotspot defined by its rich political history, diverse art scene and vibrant nightlife. Its profile was boosted when it recently played host to the G20 Summit.
Like Cape Town, Jozi ranked higher on the list last year (third place). Nevertheless, it’s still a respectable accolade for the city.
Honourable mention goes out to Johannesburg’s Gauteng neighbour, Pretoria, which landed a ninth-place spot on this list.
