Internship Application Closing Dates: 25–26 November 2025 (depending on position)
Internship Locations: Various Transnet Sites, South Africa
These 24-month training opportunities are designed for recently qualified artisans with a Trade Test (Red Seal) who seek practical workplace experience, mentorship, and exposure to real industry operations. Learners will be placed across various Transnet locations and report to the Senior Specialist for Youth Development.

Position Purpose (All Streams)
The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme aims to equip newly qualified artisans with real industry experience, enabling them to apply theoretical and practical skills in a live operational environment. Over 24 months, learners will gain hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to Transnet’s technical operations.
Key Responsibilities (All Streams)
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
- Maintain tools, machinery, and equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety standards
- Document work performed and report to supervisors
Competency Levels
- Beginner: Basic understanding of tools, safety, and equipment
- Intermediate: Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Advanced: Able to supervise, mentor, and train others
