About the Tourism KwaZulu-Natal Bursary Programme 2026
The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority (Tourism KZN) is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year to empower and develop youth in the fields of Tourism, Film, and Digital Media.
The bursary aims to support deserving students pursuing qualifications in areas that contribute to the province’s tourism and creative industries.
Fields of Study
Bursaries will be awarded for studies in (but not limited to):
- Film and TV Production
- Acting for Screen
- Digital Skills (Gaming, VFX, VR, AR)
- Tourism-related fields, including:
- Heritage and Cultural Tourism Studies
- Eco-Tourism
- Hospitality Management
- Tourism Management
Postgraduate bursaries will be considered for Animation only.
Preference Will Be Given To:
- Previously Disadvantaged Individuals
- People Living with Disabilities
- Students enrolled in Film, TV, Animation, or Digital Skills programmes
Bursary Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
- Full tuition coverage for public universities
- Tuition support for private institutions (capped at government rates)
- Monthly allowance: R1 500.00
- Accommodation allowance for students living 50km+ away from their institution
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens residing in KwaZulu-Natal
- Be accepted or enrolled to study an approved field
- Be studying at a recognized KwaZulu-Natal tertiary institution
