Drunken clubbing adventures are an integral aspect of the UK university experience. But getting wasted on a night out is a really expensive hobby for people at UK unis in 2025.
As part of Save the Student’s National Student Money Survey 2025, students at unis across the UK were asked how much money they spend on going out each month. All the numbers were pretty high, but at some UK unis students are spending truly tragic amounts.
The most expensive UK uni for nights out in 2025 is Imperial College London. Going out costs Imperial students a whopping £131. The uni’s main campus is in the very affluent area of South Kensington. It probably costs quite a lot to get a drink after class. A quarter of the 20 most expensive unis for a night out are also in London. This isn’t exactly a shock. But plenty of surprising unis are near the top of the list. Two universities in Leeds rank third and fourth. Er, I guess having a pint at every pit stop on The Otley Run adds up?
If you’re curious, the cheapest UK uni for nights out in 2025 is the University of Worcester. Students there only spend an average of £16 a month on going out. Surely, this says a lot about University of Worcester students.
So, here are the 20 UK unis where a night out is the most expensive in 2025, based on how much students said going out costs them each month:
