After partner swap week on MAFS UK, people have suddenly done a full 180 and are siding with Steven over Nelly – and I’m truly shocked.
They’ve had a very rocky journey on the reality TV show, with Steven often lashing out and leaving Nelly feeling unwanted and unloved with his behaviour.
Everyone has been firmly team Nelly the whole way through, believing she deserves better and Steven is 100% the issue in their marriage… until now.
After Steven spent a couple of nights with April, people are suddenly turning on Nelly, arguing that she is too “insecure” and “needy,” which is causing issues.

One person wrote on Twitter: “I used to be team Nelly. I thought Steven was a horror. Actually Nelly is a nightmare. She’s a pampered princess. It’s all ‘me, me, me’, what she wants and what she needs. He’s just a secondary character in her life and I think most of his behaviour is frustration at hers.”
“Nelly is staying to be on tv and public sympathy. Her needy insecure diatribe grinds my gears. Steven is not feeling it. So why stay woman. Nah, am over her,” said another.
A third person added: “Unfortunately Nelly is a prime example of what happens when you equate your entire self worth to having a man. Insecure, needy and needing constant reassurance/validation. She needed to go to therapy and work on self love before entering yet another relationship.”
Unpopular opinion but Nelly actually annoys me and i feel for Steven a tiny bit as it must be exhausting being with someone that insecure that doubts every aspect of your relationship. Nelly needs to fully heal before entering a relationship let alone marriage #MAFSUK #mafs

Others are saying Steven’s time with April showed his real self: “Look how happy Steven is without Nelly I almost liked him. Why cant he be like this with Nelly? Must admit Nelly is getting on my nerves now kicking off over a picture on the fridge.”
However, there are still some people defending the bride, saying she deserves to be treated better, and needs a man who loves her for who she is.
I think it’s outrageous to blame Nelly’s insecurities for the problems in their marriage, when Steven has been so openly explosive towards her. She can’t help how she feels and is clearly clinging onto the Steven she saw on the honeymoon, wanting to make it work when they’re just not right for each other.
Nelly, it’s time to know your self worth and leave with your head held high.
