Love & Wine is a new romantic comedy coming to Netflix this summer. The show blends heart, humour and a dash of chaos, all set against the lush backdrop of the Cape Winelands.
The film tells the story of Ovee (Ntobeko Sishi), a young man born into privilege but desperate to prove that his family name is not what defines him.
His father, Mr Sityebi (Bongile Mantsai), runs a successful winery, but Ovee wants to earn his own way in life. In an impulsive twist, he ropes in his best friend and driver, Nathi (Thandolwethu Zondi), to swap places with him in a plan that tests whether love and determination can outshine money and status.
Things get complicated when Ovee meets Amahle (Masali Baduza), a bright and grounded medical student who challenges everything he thought he knew about love, humility and purpose.
Meanwhile, Nathi is living large under the Sityebi name and finds himself drawn to Lena (Thando Thabethe), the winery’s no-nonsense manager who is as intimidating as she is intriguing.
At its heart, Love & Wine is about more than romantic mishaps. It is a story about identity, honesty and the courage to face who you really are when the pretence falls away. The film’s stunning Cape Winelands setting only adds to its charm, offering sweeping views that mirror the emotional highs and lows of its characters.
The cast brings together some of South Africa’s most loved and promising talents, including Desmond Dube, N’kone Mametja, Simone Neethling, Rorisang Mohapi, Thembsie Matu, and Bohang Moeko.
