  • A 61-year-old Tembisa school principal has been shot dead at his home during a suspected robbery.
  • Police say four armed suspects broke into the house and escaped with valuables, with no arrests made so far.
  • The killing follows another deadly shooting of school staff in Tembisa just a month ago, heightening safety concerns.

Another school principal has been fatally shot in Tembisa, east of Johannesburg, deepening concerns over the safety of educators in the area.

The 61-year-old principal was attacked at his home in the early hours of Sunday morning during what is believed to have been a robbery.

According to police, four men allegedly forced their way into the house using an axe at around midnight, before robbing the victim and his family.

The suspects reportedly fled the scene with cash, laptops, and cellphones.

Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuluwi confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage. A manhunt has been launched, and an investigation is ongoing.

The killing comes barely a month after a principal and an administrative staff member from Inxiweni Primary School in Tembisa were shot and killed on school premises.

Both victims were declared dead at the scene, and two suspects have since been arrested in connection with that incident.
