Suspect admits involvement in Saulsville mass shooting

A suspect arrested in connection with the Saulsville mass shooting has confessed to his role in the killings.

The accused appeared in Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old suspect was arrested on December 22 2025 in Limpopo for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

He is also facing 12 charges of murder and attempted murder.

The Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, revealed that the accused admitted to involvement in the shooting, and a gun found in his possession was also linked to the crime.

“On his appearance, there was a confession which we had sourced and that confession was presented and this confession ultimately had a link in terms of the mass shooting in Saulsville and Atteridgeville hostel,” Mthombeni said.

The accused also appeared before the Polokwane magistrate’s court on Tuesday for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The police commissioner stated that the confiscated firearm was linked to 12 murders.

“We took that firearm for scientific analysis, ballistic purposes, and in terms of the collection of the evidence material on the crime scene, that firearm is linked. One would say this is one of the firearms which was used in the commission of the 12 murders and 13 attempted murders,” he said.
