Storms to searing heat expected in these 3 provinces

A mixed bag of weather conditions is expected across the country on Thursday, 20 November. Cloudy conditions with showers are on the cards for Mpumalanga and the Free State, while the Northern Cape can expect scorching temperatures.

MPUMALANGA

In the eastern part of the country, you can look forward to partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions. But if you’re in the Lowveld, keep a raincoat nearby as scattered showers and thundershowers are expected.

MBOMBELA

If you’re in Mpumalanga’s largest city, you might want to keep a hoodie handy. Expect partly cloudy conditions with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers. Temperatures range from a low of 15°C to a high of 24°C.

NORTHERN CAPE

In South Africa’s largest province, conditions will be fine and warm to hot. If you’re in the extreme west, brace yourself for very hot weather. Along the coast, expect fresh to strong south-easterly winds.

KIMBERLEY

In the Northern Cape’s capital, fine weather is expected, becoming partly cloudy during the afternoon. It will be a scorcher, with a minimum of 16°C and a maximum of 33°C.

UPINGTON

Upington will be even hotter. Staying indoors might be your best bet as temperatures skyrocket to 37°C after a morning low of 18°C. Don’t forget to stay hydrated.

FREE STATE

Slightly cooler conditions can be expected in the Free State. The morning brings patches of cloud, otherwise fine and warm. The afternoon will turn partly cloudy with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers. Fine conditions will hold in the west.

BLOEMFONTEIN

In the City of Roses, fine conditions are expected, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. Temperatures will sit between a low of 14°C and a high of 29°C.
