Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be proficient in at least two official languages, one of which must be English
  • Have no criminal record or pending cases
  • Successfully complete vetting, security screening, and fingerprint verification
  • Have completed Grade 10 (Standard 8) / NQF Level 3
  • Be registered with PSIRA
  • Possess a Grade C Security Certificate or higher
  • Not be declared unfit to possess a firearm
  • Be willing to undergo and maintain firearm competency training
  • Be willing to work shifts and extended hours

  • Degree or Diploma in Security Services
  • Relevant security-related courses
  • Valid driver’s licence (light motor vehicle)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Security Officers will be responsible for:

  • Access control in line with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act 53 of 1985)
  • Positive identification of employees, visitors, and contractors
  • Registering and electronically searching all persons entering premises
  • Issuing and controlling visitor access cards
  • Vehicle and equipment access control
  • Guarding vehicles and equipment
  • Conducting patrols of buildings and fenced areas
  • Monitoring security equipment and reporting defects
  • Supervising cleaners and maintenance staff (security aspects only)
  • Reporting security risks and incidents to senior personnel
