The world has woken to do another hellish Monday in the most hellish way possible – loads of huge parts of the internet have just stopped working. Snapchat, Fortnite, Roblox, Amazon services, PlayStation, Ring, Canva – applications and services the world relies on constantly are all down and everyone’s in a frenzy over what’s happening. There seems to be one major reason behind the mass internet outage so here’s what you need to know about it so far as the story breaks this morning and we all suffer stuff being down.

Down Detector is a site everyone uses to check if sites are down when we aren’t getting the service we’re used tomorrow and this morning it went fully red.

It seems to be a major issue with Amazon Web Services
Amazon web services are responsible for a lot of these huge companies to run their infrastructure on and it works underneath a lot of the modern internet. Amazon has reported an issue in North Virginia. According to its site, it’s experiencing an issue with its Dynamo DB and Cloud system which the company rents out to others for storage and running services. The Amazon system is providing updates every 30 to 45 minutes.

Snapchat, Ring, Roblox, Clash Royale, Life360, My Fitness Pal, Xero, Canva, Amazon, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Music, Prime Video, Clash of Clans, Fortnite, Wordle, Duolingo, Coinbase, HMRC, Vodafone, Playstation, Pokémon Go.
The latest Amazon update is “We are actively engaged and working to both mitigate the issue and understand root cause,” the company says on its website. “We will provide an update in 45 minutes, or sooner if we have additional information to share.”
The Vodafone app is also affected, which isn’t ideal considering the company had its worst internet outage – with everything going down for three hours last week and causing major chaos.
