Former Miss South Africa, Shudufhadzo “Shudu” Musida, has celebrated a significant milestone, taking to Instagram to reflect on the fifth anniversary of her coveted title win.

Musida, who was crowned Miss South Africa on 24 October 2020, shared a heartfelt post expressing deep gratitude to her supporters and her community.

“I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I was crowned Miss South Africa,” the model and author wrote, adding,

“Thank you to everyone who’s supported my journey from then until now. I’m so blessed to call you my village.”

The post included a deeply moving moment, with Musida admitting that the last slide, which showed “the village that raised me, celebrating me,” brought her to tears.

She also took the opportunity to pay tribute to her late Uncle Oscar, who offered her powerful words of wisdom just before the 2020 finale.

Recalling his advice, Musida quoted:

“He said, ‘If you believe the crown is yours, then it is yours. But if you believe it’s not, then it’s not. No one can do the believing for you, no matter how badly we want it for you.’”

Since her victory, Musida has become an inspiration to many, recognised for her authenticity, intelligence, and her dedicated advocacy for mental health awareness.
