Sizwe Dhlomo recently went out for a steak and drove to his favourite spot, only to discover it was gone. Security told him the restaurant had moved, so he tried another place, but that one was empty too.

“Why are places so empty?” he asked, adding that “the world was never the same after lockdown.”

Mpho Maboi joined the conversation and said people would only start going out properly after the second or third week of December.

“Let’s not forget. You now have to tighten your belt. Personally, don’t come to me in January asking for money. I don’t play that game anymore.”

She added that lockdown had set many people back and that some still have not recovered. “You can still feel the effects of that lockdown now.”

Sizwe then posed a question to the Kaya 959 audience: “Has December officially begun for you, or are you still waiting for it to kick in?”
