Shoppers have just DAYS to stock up on £1 Terry’s Chocolate Orange at UK’s biggest supermarket

SWEET-TOOTHED shoppers can nab a popular treat for cheaper than ever from a major supermarket.

But you’ll have to hurry as the offer on the stocking filler snack ends in a matter of days.

Terry’s Chocolate Orange has been a British staple for almost a century.

While oranges have long been associated with Christmas, as a symbol of St Nick’s generosity, Terry’s Chocolate Oranges have established themselves as another festive treat.

And now shoppers can nab them at a rather nostalgic price as Tesco has offered Clubcard holders a savvy deal.

Tesco deal

Members of the supermarket’s loyalty scheme can pick up one of these popular treats for just £1.

The 145g Terry’s Chocolate Orange Ball has been slashed by 50% as part of the limited time offer.

But Clubcard holders should act now as the deal is set to end on Tuesday, October 14.

Meanwhile, shoppers without a Clubcard will have to fork over £2 for the treat.

And while the price may reflect years past, the size of the orange oil-infused chocolate does not.

Terry’s Chocolate Orange was one of many products to fall victim to shrinkflation, downsizing from 157g to 145g in recent years.

Other supermakets

Iceland and Co-op have both listed the 145g ball for £2, while it retails for £2.50 at Morrisons and Sainsbury’s.

Various versions of Terry’s Chocolate Oranges, including milk chocolate and mint, are also available for £2 each from Poundland.

Meanwhile, B&M is offering customers the 157g version for just £1.98.

And the 145g edition is listed for the same price from Asda.

Asda also launched a dupe of Terry’s Chocolate Orange ahead of the festive season.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
