TikTok user Christina unboxed her calendar, which she picked up from TikTok shop for £20.92.

For this price, you get 22 mini gonks to decorate your house or Christmas tree, plus two larger ones that say “welcome” on them.

Each one of the 24 gonks comes with a different colour woollen hat so you can create a colourful display.

On her @christinatmitsi account, she did an unboxing sharing how there was a hidden gonk concealed behind each door of the cardboard calendar.

She shared: There is a GONK behind every single door of the GONK advent calendar.

“So if you do like gonks, then this is definitely the advent calendar for you, because look, you’ve got 24 gonks.”

Many fans seemed obsessed with the advent calendar and rushed to the comments to give their views.

One said: “My mum would LOVE this. Shes obsessed with gonks.”

Another said they bought it last year, and added: “I now own a gonk army and I’m taking over Xmas this year.”

A third wrote: “I love gonks so much they’re the silliest little things ever, my mum and my nana are obsessed with them.”

However, not everyone seemed to be a fan.

One said: “I hate gonks, they’ve infected Christmas and every other holiday of the year, from valentine’s to easter to summer to whatever.”

Gonks have boomed in popularity in the UK in recent years and are said to be inspired by gnomes found in Scandinavian and Nordic mythology.

The little figures, which feature long bushy beards and knitted hats that cover their faces, are often thought to be a Nordic version of Santa Claus.

GONK MANIA

Princess Kate’s mum, Carole Middleton, previously revealed that George, Charlotte and Louis are fans of the character.

Carole previously uploaded a photo of some of the festive gonks that her former party supplies business, Party Pieces, was selling one Christmas.

She added in the caption: “I’m going to need a few of these cheeky chaps this December, to hide around the house and make my grandchildren laugh.

“As much as I love immaculate decorations, we can’t be too serious at Christmas!”

You may have thought the gnome-like figures were just for Christmas, but it turns out this is not the case.

This year we shared how Aldi brought back its Easter-themed gonks.

Why are gonks so popular?

GONKS are inspired by gnomes found in Scandinavian and Nordic mythology, and have boomed in popularity in Britain in recent years – especially for Christmas decorations.

They are said to bring good luck and fortune to families who treat them well.

Since Christmas lovers have decorated their home with the cute figures, whose long beards make them look like miniature Father Christmas’.

While they used to be just plush figures, now you can get numerous household items themed on the festive icon.

Even Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are said to be fans of gonks.
