Scottish girl who faked pregnancy with doll speaks out about exact moment she got caught

The world is totally obsessed with a random girl from Scotland who faked an entire pregnancy, and she’s now shared a statement explaining exactly how she got caught.

Kira Cousins duped her friends, family and even the baby’s own “dad” Jamie  into believing she was pregnant with a fake bump, then continued the elaborate rouse after the baby was “born” earlier in October using a realistic-looking reborn doll. She named it Bonnie Leigh.

The entire thing was outed by Kira’s’ cousin, Neave McRobert, on TikTok. In a viral video that’s now had more than four million views, she claimed that the fake plot was uncovered by Kira’s own mum, who found the doll in her bedroom.

She had supposedly become suspicious after the baby was “born” as Kira would never let anyone touch the baby, and she didn’t see it move. Now, the 23-year-old has shared her own TikTok statement explaining the moment she was caught titled: “Discovering the doll.”

In my own words, let’s set this straight for the aunt or cousin that seems to be giving it bell and tinker thinking they know. I was still in bed when my own mother came into my room, stormed in and found it to be a doll and shouted downstairs. Prior to this it’s true I had been keeping myself away from literally everyone, went into my own bubbles, didn’t want anyone around me at all,” she said.

“The next I know I was sitting against my door wouldn’t come down to be confronted by all the family that had been assembled. I WAS NEVER IN THE SHOWER OR TOILET!!! My family then sent me down and asked me what would happen earlier in my pregnancy which I will come out on a dress when I’m also ready to die for one minute, think either they let me away with half of this. THEY HAVEN’T.”

She also confirmed that none of her family or Jamie’s family knew the pregnancy was fake, and said: “While I’m not condoning any behaviour led by myself, I’d like to clear some things up for the people who were involved.”

According to Neave, Kira’s mother had bought a £1,000 pram for the baby. A source close to the family told the Mail Online: “Her mum bought a pram for her, £1,000, her gran bought car seats and everything, one of her cousins from Wales supposedly sent her £500. She’s getting all this money.”

“I don’t know where she is now, but apparently some people say she’s still floating about other people say she’s left the country. I honestly don’t think the family knew. The very first post she put up, Bonnie-Leigh born such and such and all the rest of it had people commenting.”

Kira has posted many more statements online apologising for faking the pregnancy. In one, she said: “I wasn’t pregnant. There was no baby. I made it up and kept it going way too far. I faked scans, messages, a whole birth story, and acted like a doll was a real baby. I know how bad it is. I just didn’t know how to stop once I started.”
