Schalk Bezuidenhout has gone public with his new romance, a year after announcing his split from his now-ex-wife, Mica McKechine.
The comedian and his former partner, an art director, parted ways after less than two years of marriage.
Schalk announced news of his divorce a week after Rachel and Siya Kolisi dropped the bombshell news of theirs.
SCHALK BEZUIDENHOUT SHOWS OFF NEW PARTNER
On his social media accounts, Schalk Burger revealed the new woman in his life, a woman named Helga Vorster.
He posted alongside a series of pics of the loved-up couple: “Don’t have any pictures of my show in Paternoster today (which had the best, nicest audience by the way) but I did get some nice photos of me and @helgavorster.
“Appropriate because she always steals the show anyway.”
The comedian first teased their romance back in August, less than a year after sharing news of his divorce.
Back then, the redhead had spent two weeks touring Europe with Schalk Bezuidenhout and a group of his family members.
The duo wore matching t-shirts and visited several tourist attractions together.
LESS THAN TWO YEARS OF MARRIAGE
Ahead of making a public statement on his separation, Schalk Bezuidenhout claims he knew “for a while” that he and his partner, Mica McKechnie, were going to divorce.
In an Instagram post, he revealed that he chose to break the news on his IG Stories after reading the “really mean” comments under posts from the Kolisis.
The comedian’s split from his wife comes less than two years after their 2022 wedding ceremony.
The couple said their ‘I Do’s’ at a quirky ceremony at the Oyster Box in Durban.
Schalk wore a pink suit and wore matching wedding rings in the shape of a microphone.
The couple began dating in 2017. A year later, they got engaged. According to Schalk, it was love at first sight when he spotted the Art and Film Director.
He told TshisaLive: “Very early on in our relationship, I wanted to marry Mica…but I waited two years before I wanted to ask her because I knew she would be freaked out if I asked her after two months.
He added: “She is someone who understands what I do, someone who understands that being away from home is not because I want to gallivant but is part of my career, and she is super understanding and supportive of that.”
