The South African Weather Service (SAWS) on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms that may lead to flooding in Limpopo.
According to the SAWS, the thunderstorms will result in heavy downpours that will lead to localised flooding of susceptible low-lying areas, such as settlements, roads, and bridges.
The Yellow Level 2 also warns of the following:
- Damages to property and infrastructure due to strong gusty winds
- Large amounts of small hail/large hail in an open area
- Communication systems outages and disruptions of municipal services due to excessive lightning
- Danger to livelihood and livestock, are expected over the central parts of Limpopo
Initial weather in Limpopo is expected to be fine and hot, but is set to become partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.
In Gauteng, the weather will be fine and warm to hot, and become partly cloudy with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the North.
