Celebrated business tycoon and philanthropist Sir Wicknell Chivayo is trending after he was spotted wearing one of the world’s coveted watches worth millions.
Chivayo, who is making headlines after he made a string of donations totalling R92 million, was spotted wearing a Jacob & Co watch as he jetted off to Seychelles with his wife for his 45th birthday.
Chivayo flaunts luxury watch
The tenderpreneur, who has close ties with the Zimbabwean head of state, was spotted wearing a rare Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon.
Watch enthusiasts see it not just as a timepiece. But a symbol of wealth and royalty, reserved for a select few, including celebrated athletes, presidents, billionaires, and singers.
The watch, a collaboration between Jacob & Co. and Bugatti, is limited to 578 models.
However, a rare rose-gold model exists, limited to 72 individuals, including Sir Wicknell, football star Cristiano Ronaldo, and boxer Jack Paul.
The businessman who splurges on luxury
A few months ago, Sir Wicknell Chivayo confirmed his purchase and topped trends. The move made him one of the few business moguls to splurge millions on the watch.
The South African has noted that the watch’s model sells for $600 000, which amounts to R10.3 million.
Surprisingly, this is not the first time he has made such headlines with his soft life.
Chivayo’s lavish lifestyle: from watches to private jets
In 2024, Chivayo purchased the Gucci G-Timeless Dancing Bees watch, becoming Africa’s first customer. The South African reported on his milestone.
Gucci custom-makes the R2.5 million watch per client’s request and limits it to only two visual styles.
Chivayo, who has since made South Africa his playing ground, has wowed many with his spending spree and donations in recent years.
The tenderpreneur who has won several tenders across Africa through his company, Intratrek Zimbabwe, has also spent a fortune on cars.
He has an impressive fleet worth millions. His fleet in Zimbabwe is all-white, and in South Africa it’s all-black.
Some of his cars from his South African fleet include a R6 million 2024 Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680.
Apart from his fleet, Chivayo owns a private jet, a Challenger 300. The 12-seater jet features several customised cabins.
In 2023, The South African reported that Chivayo splurged at least R700 million on the 12-seater private jet.
However, several listings show that the least-priced Challenger 300 sells for around R600 million.
