Ryanair to axe another 1.2million seats to Spain next year

RYANAIR is scrapping another 1.2million seats to Spain next year.

Last month, the budget airline revealed that they would be cancelling all flights to three popular Spanish airports.

Affecting two million passengers, the cancellations affect Tenerife North, Vigo and Santiago.

However, Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary has since confirmed another 1.2million seats are to be axed to Spain in summer 2026.

He has also threatened to scrap all services to Santiago de Composetela and Asturias as well.

The cancellation of Spanish routes comes over a disagreement over the current airport tariffs, which O’Leary is claiming need to be lowered.

He previously said: “If the costs in regional Spain are too high, I will fly elsewhere.

“We are better off flying at the same cost to places such as Palma [on the island of Mallorca] than flying to Jerez.”

And Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson explained earlier this year: “Ryanair remains committed to Spain, but we cannot justify continued investment in airports whose growth is being stymied by excessive and uncompetitive charges.”

All flights to Tenerife North will be scrapped at the beginning of this year’s winter season.

And all flights to Vigo will be axed from January 2026.

Ryanair’s bases of Valladolid and Jerez bases will remain closed.

It’s not just Spain that is seeing Ryanair flights scrapped.

Three cities in Germany are also losing some Ryanair flight routes axed.

Two airports in France have also seen Ryanair cancellations as well.

Bergerac Airport has lost all of its Ryanair flights, affecting 18,000 passengers, as well as the Brive-London Stansted route.
