Rolling Stone legend Ronnie Wood reveals he’s working on new music with Brit music icon

ROLLING Stone Ronnie Wood has revealed he’s working on new songs with former Faces bandmate Sir Rod Stewart.

The 78-year-old guitarist says he and pal Sir Rod, 80, have “a good body of songs” since they performed together at Glastonbury Festival in June.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs today about a Faces reunion, Ronnie says: “We would love to do that. We’ve got these songs that we’re working on from back in the day but it’s hard to make our times tally.

“When we do get a chance to get in the studio again, we will finish off these songs.

“We have got a good body of songs going.”

Ronnie also says that “absolutely nothing has changed” since the pair performed together in the 1970s — except that Sir Rod does not allow amps on stage anymore.

He also reveals his recordings of jams with the late Beatle John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono, 92, were not accounted for.

Ronnie says: “John I met once in New York and a fantastic time we had. We went down to Atlantic Studios and we played the night away just singing and playing.”

Asked about the recordings, he tells Desert Island Discs host Lauren Laverne: “Good question — I would love to know what happened.”

However, Ronnie has confirmed the Rolling Stones are releasing a new album next year, adding: “We are at the mixing stage.”

Among his selected discs, Ronnie chose Paul McCartney’s Maybe I’m Amazed and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 (second movement), performed by Geza Anda, to take with him on a desert island.

The Faces formed in 1969 when Ronnie and Sir Rod — both from the Jeff Beck Group — joined remaining members of the Small Faces after guitarist and singer Steve Marriott left.

The rock band’s biggest hits were Stay With Me in 1971 and Ooh La La in 1973.
