Rob Reiner and his wife of 36 years, Michele, were found stabbed in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The 78-year-old director and his 68-year-old wife were pronounced dead at their home.
As reported by The New York Times, the Los Angeles Police Department said it was investigating an “apparent homicide” at the home of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele. Nick Reiner, 32, is being held in jail on $4 million (R67 163 937) bail, according to jail records.
Reiner is known for directing films like When Harry Met Sally, Stand By Me and A Few Good Men.

Nick is one of Rob’s four children.
Tracy (61) is the oldest and was adopted by Rob with his first wife, Penny Marshall, followed by Jake (34), then Nick (32), and finally Romy (28), who are his children from his second marriage to Michele Singer Reiner.

Some of the notable tributes for Rob and Michele Riener came from former US President Barack Obama and writer Stephen King.
“Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen,” said Obama.
“But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them,” Obama continued.
Stephen King also sent a heartfelt tribute: “I’m horrified and saddened by the death of Rob Reiner and Michele. Wonderful friend, political ally, and brilliant filmmaker (including 2 of mine). Rest in peace, Rob. You always stood by me.”
