RUBEN AMORIM could cling on to his Manchester United job thanks to club chiefs not wanting to undermine him.
The Red Devils boss has come under pressure following a poor start to the season.

United have picked up just two wins in six games and suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brentford on Saturday.
But despite the poor run United chiefs have avoided planning his successor – which they did to Erik ten Hag after he won the FA Cup.
Sources at the club state Amorim still has the support of co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, according to the Daily Mail.
Because of that the club is not drawing up a shorltist of replacements as they believe doing so will undermine Amorim.
And there is a frustration amongst bosses over the same names being linked to the Old Trafford dugout as last year, with suggestions there is no truth to the rumours.
United will also have a huge cost if they decide to sack Amorim before November.
The Portuguese will collect a whopping £12million if he is fired before that date – which will mark his first anniversay in charge.
Amorim’s coaching staff would also be in line for a pay-off if United decide to pull the plug.

A number of names have been linked to the job with Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner the current bookies favourite.
Gareth Southgate, who was linked last year, is also amongst the frontrunners – he has close ties to Ineos and is well regarded by Ratcliffe.
