South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is celebrating his 73rd birthday today, 17 November 2025.
Birthday wishes have been pouring in for the president, who this morning presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new members of the National Executive at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
The official accounts of the Gauteng Provincial Government, the South African Government, and The Presidency on X were among the first to send public birthday messages.
“The Presidency wishes President Cyril Ramaphosa a Happy Birthday today, 17 November, as he embarks on a week that will see the culmination of South Africa’s year-long G20 Presidency,” read the official birthday message.
The African National Congress (ANC) also issued a statement wishing its president well.
“The African National Congress wishes its President, Comrade Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, well on the occasion of his birthday. We wish our President strength and good health. Continue serving our people with diligence, dedication and commitment.”
ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula shared his own message, writing, “I, together with the African National Congress, wish our dear brother, Comrade President Cyril Ramaphosa, a happy and joyful birthday. From his early days as a unionist to now as President, Cyril Ramaphosa has always been a fervent advocate of the ANC’s historical mission: to bring about a non-sexist, non-racial and democratic South Africa. To many more, Cde President.”
During the morning’s proceedings, Ramaphosa officially appointed Willem Abraham Stephanus Aucamp as Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, and Alexandra Lilian Amelia Abrahams as Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition.
Prior to the ceremony, members of government, guests and members of the media sang Happy Birthday to the president.
