- Rand Water will conduct major maintenance on the Mapleton and Palmiet systems from 13 to 15 December.
- This will leave several Pretoria East and North areas without water.
- The City of Tshwane has apologised and urged residents to conserve water.
Pretoria residents are bracing for a dry December weekend as Rand Water undertakes a two-day maintenance programme on its Mapleton and Palmiet systems.
The planned shutdown is scheduled from Saturday, 13 December 2025, to Monday, 15 December 2025.
Rand Water says the essential work will affect several Tshwane reservoirs and meters supplied by the two systems, leading to water interruptions in multiple areas.
The following reservoirs will be affected :
MAPLETON SYSTEM
- Carina Street Reservoir: Alphenpark, Erasmusrand, Garsfontein 374-JR, Groenkloof 358-JR, Monumentpark (all extensions), Sterrewag, Waterkloof (all extensions), Waterkloof Heights, Waterkloof Park and Waterkloof Ridge (all extensions).
- Corobrick Plant: Grootfontein 394-JR, Mooikloof Manor Ext 2, Rietfontein 375-JR, Rietfontein Ridge Ext 11, Rietvallei 377-JR, The Hills (all extensions), Tiegerpoort 371-JR and Zwavelpoort 373-JR.
- Garsfontein Reservoir: Feeding most reservoirs in Pretoria East.
The Palmiet System will affect residents in Pretoria North, including Akasia, Ga-Rankuwa and Klipfontein.
The City notes that some areas not listed may still experience outages and apologises for any inconvenience caused. Residents are urged to use water sparingly during the maintenance period.
