Planned power cuts to hit Johannesburg suburbs next week

City Power has announced a series of essential planned power outages across Johannesburg next week to facilitate network maintenance. Residents are advised to prepare for interruptions spanning from Roodepoort to Randburg and Lenasia.

Northern Suburbs (Randburg & Bryanston)

The first major maintenance work will occur early in the week:

  • Monday, 24 November (8am – 4pm): Bryanston Substation
    • Affected Areas: Bryanston (various extensions), Gleniffer, Solridge, Mill Hill Ext. 2, New Brighton, Glenadrienne, Country Life Park, Sandhurst Ext. 4, River Club Ext. 3 and 10, Parkmore, and Lym Park (Ext: 2 and 4).
  • Wednesday, 26 November (9am – 5pm): Randburg Substation
    • Affected Area: Parts of Ferndale.

Roodepoort Region

Roodepoort residents will face three separate interruptions, including two simultaneous cuts on Thursday:

  • Tuesday, 25 November (8am – 4pm): Helderkruin Switching Station
    • Affected Area: Helderkruin.
  • Thursday, 27 November (8am – 4pm): Timber Street Switching Station
    • Affected Areas: Manufacta and Roodepoort West.
  • Thursday, 27 November (8am – 4pm): Paul Kruger Avenue Switching Station
    • Affected Areas: Roodepoort North and Horizon.

Southern Regions (Lenasia & Reuven)

Planned maintenance concludes the week in the south:

  • Saturday, 29 November (8am – 4pm): Market Boundary Substation (Reuven)
    • Affected Areas: City Deep, City Deep Hostel, Prolecon, and Heidelberg Road.
  • Saturday, 29 November (Time TBC – check with City Power): Carina Switching Station (Lenasia)
    • Affected Areas: Ennerdale Ext. 1 and Ennerdale Ext. 2.
