Former Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has been rumoured to return to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 61-year-old tactician coached Masandawana between 2012 and 2020, where he went on to win more than 10 trophies, including the CAF Champions League.
Since he departed from South African football, Jingles has gone on to retain further success with Al Ahly.
Former Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela feels Pitso Mosimane might not work with the club’s current sporting director, Flemming Berg.
“I will just talk from what I know. The Pitso I know,” Mphela was quoted on Soccer Laduma.
“What I know is that he has evolved with football through the years. You can pick it up when you’re talking to him. But I don’t know. Maybe his own sporting director, whom he recommended, could work. I’m not sure about this one (Flemming Berg) because already there’ve been, you know, talks of complaints from fans and other people that they don’t really need him.”
Pitso to return to Sundowns?
“But the Pitso I know, I don’t think they will work well (together), but you never know in football because Pitso likes being in control of the whole set-up, which is why he has his own technical team. He likes signing his own players, so I’m not sure if he can work with this one. I’m not convinced,” said Mphela.
Since Pitso Mosimane left Sundowns, the Brazilians have not tasted much success, except for dominating the Betway Premiership. His return could see them be a dominant force in cup competitions and CAF Chmapions League.
