Broadcaster Masechaba Mposwa expresses gratitude as Gauteng Provincial Government honours her late mother with a Special Provincial Funeral.

South African award-winning broadcaster Masechaba Mposwa has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Gauteng Provincial Government for honouring her late mother with a Special Provincial Funeral.
This comes after former MK veteran Sibongile Imelda Promise Khumalo passed away in Johannesburg on Friday, 21 November 2025, at the age of 63.
Her Special Official Provincial Funeral, Category 2, was held on Tuesday, 2 December 2025, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Dube, Soweto.
Among those in attendance were Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Human Settlements MEC Tasneem Motara.
“My family and I extend our deepest gratitude to the Gauteng Provincial Government for honouring my mother, Sibongile Imelda Promise Khumalo, with a Special Official Provincial Funeral.
“A profound thank you to the Premier of Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, and to the President of the Republic of South Africa for recognising her sacrifice, her service, and her remarkable contribution to our nation’s liberation,” Masechaba wrote on social media.

In a separate post, Mposwa thanked the Afro-soul artist for paying tribute through song, describing his performance as a balm for their hearts.
“Thank you for healing us through your music and reminding us of the beauty in my mother’s journey,” she wrote.
She also expressed her gratitude to her husband, gospel singer Ntethelelo Ntethe Mposwa.
“Most importantly, thank you to my loving husband @official_ntethe who has been carrying me throughout this incredibly traumatic journey. Thank you for never leaving my side. Ndiyakuthanda Faku, Nkosi.”
