‘Not impressed!’ Zim fans reject new Warriors AFCON kit

Some Zimbabwean football fans have expressed disappointment over the new national team kit.

The latest national team kit, revealed on Monday evening at the Warriors’ send-off dinner ahead of AFCON 2025, has drawn widespread criticism online.

Fans vent frustration over the kit on social media

Within hours of the reveal, Zimbabwean supporters took to X, Facebook, and Instagram to share their disappointment.

Many called the kit “underwhelming” and “not representative of Zimbabwe”.

“Really? This is the best we could get?” one fan wrote. Another posted: “The colors are all wrong. It doesn’t feel like our team.”

Renowned Zimbabwean football analyst Charles Mabika also took to social media, asking fans to rate the kit from 1 to 10, and the responses were overwhelmingly negative.

“Primary school jersey…” reacted @Nelson Chingwaru. @Busani Bhebhe asked: “where do we get these funny kits?”

Others expressed a mix of humor and frustration, joking that the kit looked more suited for training than a major tournament.

Some voices called on the Zimbabwe Football Association to listen to fan feedback, arguing that the right kit can inspire the team and the nation. “A jersey isn’t just fabric,” @Nabvuyangu wrote. “It’s pride, history, and heart. We need that.”

High-profile kit unveiling at send-off dinner

The kit made its debut at a dinner attended by players, team officials, government representatives, and business figures.

The event was intended to boost morale and show the nation’s support for the Warriors before they leave for Morocco.

Mixed reactions, but disappointment dominates

A few supporters appreciated the attempt to bring a fresh look, noting that the design has some symbolic touches.

But for the majority, the new kit failed to capture the spirit of Zimbabwean football.

Fans compared it to previous editions, saying those uniforms were bolder and felt more authentic.

The Warriors face a demanding group stage, where they will go up against African football giants Egypt, regional rivals South Africa, and Angola.
Despite the challenge, the squad remains optimistic about delivering a strong performance.
