NEWCASTLE are set to open talks with Brighton for Joao Pedro.
SunSport reported how Pedro’s representatives have indicated to Toon chiefs that the Brazilian is keen on a switch to St. James’ Park.

The Seagulls are believed to want £60million and Newcastle are willing to enter negotiations around that figure, but are yet to table an official opening bid.
The arrival of Greek striker Charalampos Kostoulas at the Amex means Brighton already have a replacement and are now willing to cash in, with Chelsea also interested.
The Toon missed out on top target Bryan Mbeumo with the Brentford forward looking set for either Manchester United or Tottenham.
Though, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is a big fan of Pedro and is desperate to finally get his man three years after missing out on him before moving for Alexander Isak.
The North East side want to lighten the load on their Swedish talisman and believe Pedro, 23, would be the perfect man to do that.
And his versatility to play anywhere across the front three also makes him an attractive option as Howe plots a double assault domestically and in the Champions League.
The ex-Watford ace was axed for the last two games of the season by Fabian Hurzeler after a training-ground bust-up with team-mate Jan Paul van Hecke.
Hurzeler, 32, said last month: “With Joao we had a small issue in training, the type which isn’t uncommon from time to time in all football clubs. We dealt with it internally and the matter is closed.

“Joao is an incredible football player, he’s a match-winner for us, he’s a great player and that’s why we invested in him.
“But there are principles that are non-negotiable and count for everyone – that everyone has to stick to – where we don’t make any compromises.”
In addition to Pedro, Newcastle are interested in Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side want to keep the former Manchester United star, who would likely cost the Toon at least £50m.
Elanga added fuel to the fire after twice commenting cryptic comments on Newcastle youngster William Osula’s Instagram posts.
