New Lindt truffle flavour is spotted at UK supermarket as shoppers stock up their cupboards for Christmas

A NEW Lindt truffle flavour has been spotted on the shelves of a UK supermarket, just in time for sweet-toothed shoppers to stock up for Christmas.

Lindt chocolates have been a firm favourite with Brits for years with the Swiss firm offering a wide variety of flavours.

Sainsbury’s now has an exclusive offer for sale with a new selection which now includes pistachio flavour.

While pistachio chocs have been available before as part of Lindt’s pick ‘n’ mix selection it is the first time it has come in a variety pack.

One eagle-eyed shopper spotted it on the shelves and took to social media to spread the word.

Taking to Facebook’s Newfoodsuk page, they posted an image of the box and wrote: “New Assorted Lindt Lindor with Pistachio flavour spotted at Sainsbury’s” and added a smiley emoji.

Many others in the group simply tagged their pals in the comments to alert them.

One person wrote: “Tiramisu are my favourite, but these are even better, but they don’t come in boxes.”

A second said: “Shortbread the best!”

While a third did sound a note of caution, saying: “Steep at £12 a box.”

Lindt is well known for dropping limited edition flavours in the run-up to Christmas.

Recently, the brand has launched limited-edition options including Salted Caramel, Double Chocolate, and even a Strawberries & Cream variety.

Seasonal releases such as Mint and Gingerbread have also proved a hit at Christmas.

Lindt isn’t the only popular brand releasing exciting new flavours.

Chocolate lovers are rushing to Tesco and Asda to get their hands on a new dessert flavour.

Aero has launched an orange and chocolate flavoured mousse which has started flying off the shelves.

In each box, you get four pots which weigh 58g.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

The zesty dessert is perfect for a lunchtime snack or an evening treat, as the tangy orange flavour perfectly balances the richness of the chocolate.

Each box costs just £2 at Tesco, though it is also sold at Asda.

Fans have gone wild for the new flavour, with one particularly happy shopper leaving a glowing review on the Tesco website.

The happy customer wrote: “It is a lovely mixture with chocolate and orange.”
