Nepo baby Scarlett Thomas shows off her amazing singing voice as she sets sights on music career after skipping GCSEs

NEPO-BABY Scarlett Thomas has showcased her sensational singing talent after ditching her GCSE exams in favour of showbiz stardom.

The teen, who stars in BBC drama Waterloo Road, left her Instagram followers in awe of her “amazing” vocals as she gave her rendition of Sienna Spiro’s hit Maybe.

Fans said she had picked up the performing bug from her Corrie star parents[/caption]

One fan promptly demanded she “bring out your own music” while another said she had “inherited the performing element” from her Coronation Street star parents.

Scarlett, 16, is the daughter of ITV soap stars Ryan Thomas and Tina O’Brien, 42, and often shows off her vocal talents on her TikTok page.

Just last month, we reported how the teen had hit the recording studio as she attempted to make her singing dream a reality.

This time around, she was seen donning a cherry red co-ord and a poker straight hairstyle as she stood in front of the microphone.

She pulled on her headphones and belted out a pitch-perfect version of the 2025 hit, before uploading it to her grid with the phrase “preach.”

Her studio sessions have come after her actor dad Ryan, 41, was forced to defend her after she revealed she didn’t take any GCSEs.

Scarlett told her followers this summer that she wouldn’t be picking up her results as she didn’t sit any exams.

CLAP BACK

Previously, Scarlett told her social media followers how she had not taken any of her high school exams.

In another short video posted, Scarlett posed in front of a camera, again showing a close up of her immaculate makeup.

She captioned it: “I’m watching everyone get their GCSE results today, wondering if I could’ve had good results but I will forever wonder.”

Some fans were left divided and said the youngster should have done her GCSE’s regardless of her blossoming acting career.

But father Ryan promptly hit back and wrote in the comments: “Is it even anyone’s business or concern though?”

SCREEN QUEEN

Scarlett was introduced to the screen from a young age.

What is a Nepo Baby?

A ‘nepo baby’ is a colloquial term used to describe individuals who have gained opportunities or success in their careers primarily due to familial connections or the influence of their well-known or wealthy parents, rather than solely through their own talent, skills, or efforts.

The term ‘nepo’ is short for ‘nepotism’, which refers to favouritism granted to relatives or close friends, often in a professional context.

Key Characteristics:

  • Inherited advantage: Nepo babies often benefit from their family’s established reputation, wealth, or industry connections.
  • Access to networks: They typically have easier access to influential networks and resources within their chosen field.
  • Public perception: The term can carry a negative connotation, implying that their success is not entirely merit-based.

Industries Affected:

  • Entertainment: Many actors, musicians, and other performers are often labeled as nepo babies if they have famous parents.
  • Business: Individuals who inherit or are given significant roles in family-owned businesses.
  • Politics: Politicians who follow in the footsteps of their parents or other relatives.

Examples:

  • Children of famous actors who become actors themselves.
  • Heirs to business empires who assume executive roles.
  • Offspring of political figures who enter public office.

The concept of nepo babies is often debated, with some arguing that it undermines the notion of meritocracy.

Meanwhile, others believe that it is natural for families to support and help each other succeed.

he’s previously been forced to defend herself after being slammed as a nepo-baby and only being famous because of her parents.

One follower: ‘You only got those opportunities because of your family.’

Scarlett fired back: “God forbid a girl takes the chances she gets.”

It comes after Scarlett, who has previously been described as the ‘ultimate soap nepo baby’, could be on track to make at least £2million before she’s even 18.

Not only has Scarlett been branded a “real life Disney princess” by her famous uncle Scott Thomas, but the youngster, who was just 14 when she landed her role in Waterloo Road, is sure to receive yet more “fabulous opportunities.”

When she hit 16, Scarlett launched her own TikTok account and Instagram.

She regularly posted videos for her fans – getting millions of likes each time and in recent months has started roping in her famous family.

A video of her greeting her uncle Scott after he appeared on Love Island for the second time ended up getting three million likes.

The Thomas Family even have their own social media account – which features all the brothers – Adam, Scott and Ryan as well as their spouses including former Towie star Lucy Mecklenburgh.
