- A total of 98 suspects were arrested across Tshwane over the weekend for crimes ranging from drunk driving to immigration violations.
- Police also issued 48 traffic infringements during multiple joint operations.
- Authorities say the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to curb lawlessness and improve road safety in the city.
Ninety-eight people were arrested in different areas across the City of Tshwane over the weekend for various crimes, including driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Saturday, police officers apprehended 32 illegal immigrants for contravening Section 94(1) of the Immigration Act.
In a separate operation focused on drunk driving, traffic officers stopped and searched numerous vehicles for any illegal activities. As a result, a total of sixty people were arrested for various offences, among them, 23 were arrested for suspected driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.
Tshwane Metro Police Spokesperson, Isaac Mahamba, said eight suspects were arrested for consuming alcohol in public.
“Twenty-nine suspects were arrested for being in the country illegally, contravening the Immigration Act of 2002. Additionally, a total of 48 AARTO infringements were issued to road offenders,” said Mahamba.
Furthermore, another operation was conducted in Pretoria North by the Freeway Unit and Pedestrian Unit on 9 November 2025.
During the operation, six suspected drunk drivers were nabbed for driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.
All the arrested suspects were detained at local police stations.
