National Treasury invites South African graduates to apply for the Chartered Accountants Academy (CAA) Programme 2026.
This prestigious programme is a 36-month full-time training contract aimed at developing future Chartered Accountants CA(SA) for the South African public sector, while contributing to financial management transformation and policy development.

Purpose of the CAA Programme
The Chartered Accountants Academy offers a structured training contract designed to develop Professional Values, Attitudes and Acumen (PVAA) competencies required for the CA(SA) designation.
Trainees will:
- Gain exposure to public sector financial management
- Contribute to policy development initiatives
- Build advanced technical accounting and auditing skills
- Be part of national financial management transformation efforts
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) or
- An equivalent qualification that meets SAICA requirements to write the Initial Test of Competence (ITC) in January 2026
Foreign qualifications (including O- and A-Level certificates) must be evaluated by SAQA at the applicant’s own cost.
Duties and Training
- Key learning areas will be clarified by the various units where trainees are placed
- Successful candidates will rotate across relevant National Treasury units
- A Learning Agreement must be signed within 3 months of appointment
Assessment and Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will undergo:
- A technical assessment testing relevant job-related competencies
- An integrity and ethical conduct assessment
Important:
The National Treasury does not support the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recruitment assessments. Any application found using AI-generated content in assessments without acknowledgement will be disqualified.
