About the Bursary Programme
The Premier’s Discretionary Bursary Fund is an initiative by the Office of the Premier in Mpumalanga aimed at providing financial support to academically deserving students who demonstrate potential but lack the financial means to further their education.
This bursary reflects the provincial government’s ongoing commitment to empowering youth, promoting skills development, and building a knowledge-driven workforce that can contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s social and economic development.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to:
- Learners currently in Matric (Grade 12)
- Matric graduates who are not yet enrolled at a tertiary institution
- Students currently studying at an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
This inclusive eligibility ensures equal opportunities for school leavers and continuing students who need financial assistance.

Applicants must attach the following supporting documents to their applications:
- Application letter (clearly stating your motivation and chosen field of study)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Certified copies of academic qualifications and achievements
- Certified copy of your South African ID
- Proof of registration at a recognised tertiary institution (if applicable)
- Proof of residence
- Certified copy of death certificate(s) (if applicable)
- Proof of financial income of parent(s) or legal guardian(s) (if applicable)
Incomplete applications or missing documentation will result in disqualification.
