About the Mercedes-Benz Bursary Programme 2026
The Mercedes-Benz Bursary Programme aims to support talented students pursuing studies in key fields aligned with the company’s operations and future skills needs. This bursary not only covers essential academic expenses but also provides students with exposure to real-world industry experience through vacation work opportunities at Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA), East London.
Fields of Study Covered
Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Analytical Chemistry / Chemical Engineering
- Computer Engineering / Information Technology / Software Development
- Finance / Accounting / Economics
- Industrial Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics
- Metallurgy
- Metrology
- Human Kinetics & Ergonomics
- Supply Chain / Logistics
Expenses Covered
The bursary provides comprehensive financial support for:
- Tuition fees
- Stationery and textbooks
- Meals and accommodation
- Allowances
In addition, bursary recipients may have the opportunity to complete vacation work at Mercedes-Benz East London during university holidays.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen (foreign nationals may apply if eligible for a valid work visa/permit under the Immigration Act 13 of 2002).
- Must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
- Must be enrolled or intending to study full-time in 2026 towards one of the listed qualifications.
- Must be studying or accepted to study at a recognised and accredited South African university.
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% if currently in Matric.
- Must have achieved at least 65% in Mathematics and/or Physical Science (for Engineering stream students).
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in your most recent semester results if currently studying.
- Must not be an employee of Mercedes-Benz South Africa Group of Companies.
- Preference will be given to 1st and 2nd year students.
- Preference will also be given to students residing in the Eastern Cape region.
- Students with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
